Why Women Have Sex deals with the complexity of the sexual psychology of females. A new study indicates these range from love to pure pleasure to a sense of duty.
Why Women Have Sex is the results of a study of 1000 women that was conducted using 237 questions gleaned from earlier research using a female perspective. The two leading psychologists, Cindy Meston and David Buss, professors at the University of Texas at Austin, have written what has been described as rivaling the culture-shifting Kinsey's Sexual Behavior in the Human Female. Why Women Have Sex OverviewWomen are focused on exclusively although men are brought in occasionally by way of contrast.in Why Women Have Sex. In a study conducted in 2009, women were asked whether they had ever had sex for one of the 237 reasons that had emerged from a previous study published as "Why Humans Have Sex" when it appeared in the Archives of Sexual Behavior. By using the voices of real women, the authors have revealed motivations that guide a women' sexual decisions and explains the deep-seated psychology and biology that unwittingly drive a woman's pursuit of health or pleasure. It also explores that there may be reasons that are dark as well as disturbing. The research reveals a complex and nuanced portrait of female sexuality and deals with the exploration and complexity of women's sexual psychology. Women's Reasons for Having SexWhy Women Have Sex shows that women's reasons for having sex are varied:
Dr. Meston found: "Many of the women had sex purely because they wanted the experience, they wanted the adventure,pr they wanted to see what is was like to be with different ethnicities. Some women said they wanted more notches on their belt and some wanted to get rid of their virginity." Negative and Postive Aspects of the Sexual ExperienceSexual experiences can influence a woman's feeling's of self-esteem. According to Dr. Buss, "Some sexual experiences that the women in our study reported just had a devastating effects and long-lasting negative effects on their feeling of self worth. But then for others, their sexual experiences provided soaring heights of euphoria and made them feel alive and vibrant." Sexual Differences Between Men and WomenThe factors that make men attractive to women include personality, sense of humor, self-confidence and status which are less important to men in choosing a woman with whom to have sex. In addition, sexual arousal is more complicated in women than for me. Why Women Have Sex provides a deep psychological understanding of female sexuality and an awareness of a woman's relationship to the sexual experience. About the authorsCindy M.
