Secret Ceres is a handmade pelvic toner made from kaolin, pomegranate and dripstones. This article explains how to use it and how it differs from regular toning devices.

Secret Ceres is made of natural, organic materials: kaolin (white clay), punica granatum (pomegranate fruit), and dripstones (calcium carbonate crystals). According to its developer, Mallence Bart-Williams of Natural Body Care Ltd, regular use will cleanse and tighten the vaginal muscles, detoxify the body, rebalance vaginal pH levels, and enhance sexual response. It is a holistic alternative to many pelvic toning devices because it is handmade and made of natural materials instead of plastic.

Active Ingredients of Secret Ceres

Kaolin is a clay mineral, which has been used in Asia for over 2,500 years to make porcelain. It is cleansing, astringent and anti-inflammatory and widely used in cosmetics, medicines, food additives, toothpaste and anti-diarrhoea medicines. Its health benefits have been widely debated and some cultures practice geophagy (eating clay and soil for its nutritional benefits). "It is possible that the binding effect of clay would cause it to absorb toxins," Dr David L Katz, a nutritional expert at the Yale School of Medicine and medical contributor for ABC News said recently during a discussion on the topic.

Punica Granatum (pomegranate fruit)is a widely studied fruit and clinical trials have found it has numerous health benefits, including reducing the risk of heart disease and lowering blood pressure. Researchers at Mindlab International at the University of Sussex, UK recently discovered an unexpected health benefit: it helps to boost libido in men and women. It is vitamin-rich, astringent, anti-bacterial and thought to be an aphrodisiac.

Pomegranate seed oil is highly nutritious and contains high levels of antioxidants – good for anti-ageing and healing dry skin. It also contains phytoestrogens (a plant form of oestrogen), which can help to relieve vaginal dryness, a common problem during breastfeeding, menopause and when taking certain medications such as the contraceptive pill. A 2006 study at the University of Michigan Medical School published in the Journal of Ethnopharmacology found that the oil regenerates and strengthens the skin.

Health Benefits of Use

Three consumer studies carried out by Natural Body Care between 2004-2005 showed the following gynaeological health benefits of regular use: -

  • 99% tightening of the vagina after the first application*
  • 99% enhanced hygiene after the first application*
  • 99% internal cleansing and regenerating*
  • 68% reduced discharge*
  • 56% clearer consistency and altered taste of discharge*
  • 78% increased humidity level during intercourse *
  • 62% increased libido and intensified sensation during intercourse*
  • 43% decreased menstrual discomfort and irregularity*
  • 95% successful treatment of vaginal infections**
  • 86% since successful treatment of vaginal infection have had no further outbreaks**
  • 90% reported a regenerating effect on damaged and infected areas of skin***

"Secret Ceres’ active ingredients and antifungal and antibacterial properties effectively counteract conditions that arise as a result of the state of imbalance of the flora, such as fungal infections (vaginal candidiasis), vaginal dryness, inflammation of the vagina (vaginitis), unpleasant odour (vaginosis), or discharge (leucorrhoea)," says Mallence Bart-Williams.

How to Use it

The stick can be used internally to cleanse and tone the vagina, and to help strengthen your PC muscles, and externally to help treat spots, blemishes, scars and stretch marks.

Internally: Wet the stick and insert into the vagina for one to three minutes. You will feel a tightening effect after a few minutes. Try using the product once or twice a week, or daily if you have a vaginal infection (consult your doctor prior to use if you have a vaginal infection).

Externally: To treat spots, pimples, and blemishes wet the stick and hold to the affected area for a minute, leaving the clay residue to dry on the skin. Leave overnight if possible and rinse off in the morning. The stick can also be used as a facial mask and on larger areas of skin such as stretch marks.

Secret Ceres is a different type of pelvic toner in that it is natural and organic, and feels more sensual to use than plastic devices. The Royal College of Gynaecologists (RCOG) in London cannot comment on or recommend individual products such as this. However, Natural Body Care has worked with several gynaecologists in Germany, and can provide further information, testimonials, and access to gynaecologists who are familiar with it.
