Bad people who spike women's drinks can be quickly identified thanks to an Irish lass, Tracy Whittaker, who has developed a lip gloss that comes with a date-rape drug testing gadget. Whittaker's five 2LoveMyLips gloss products not only contain plumping, breath freshener lipsticks, they also include spiked-drink detectors in the packages. The testers are pink narrow paper tabs that can be detached from the case and dipped unobtrusively into a drink. If the slip of paper turns from pink to blue it signals the presence of GHB (gamma-hydroxybutyric acid) or Ketamine-- two of the most common drugs used to take sexual advantage of unsuspecting females.
If the pink tab’s color should change to blue, Whittaker says a girl should immediately seek help from security or the police.
Whittaker, owner of the brand, decided to create this new protection tool after a friend warned her not to try drinks which had been bought for her in bars. Whittaker lives in Ireland in an area where there are a high number of drug rapes.
She says: “Every girl always takes her lip gloss with her when she goes for a night out. Our glosses come in a box, whose side also doubles as a mirror, along with a drink-testing kit plus a guide to staying safe with tips such as booking a cab home.”
Sales of the product to UK beauty salons are going well and she says she plans to launch the product in the USA and Australia, as well as tourist spots in the Far East where drink spiking is a significant problem. Whittaker plans to make 2LoveMyLips kits available in vending machines in bar and club restrooms. She says other cosmetic products are also inthe works by the company but all of them will come with the date-rape testing kit included.

What’s worse is that many of us unknowingly attract the sun’s rays to our lips by using balms and glosses. She advises women to avoid wearing glossy lipsticks in the sun altogether unless they have a layer of sun protection underneath. She advises women to obtain a lip balm or lip sunscreen that has an SPF (Sun Protection Factor) of 30.
